The honeycomb background to the image of Yggdrasil reflects the nurturing nature of this mammoth ash tree that linked the 9 worlds of the cosmos, from the gods in Asgard, through the human realm of Midgard, to the underworld beneath. Bees were believed to feed on the nectar that fell from its leaves.
